The Syrup Sopping Day at Loachapoka is located in downtown Loachapoka, Alabama on Park Street, Daylily Street and Hwy 14 in October each year on an Auburn away football game weekend. The date is set each year after the Auburn Football schedule is set, usually around January for the following year. Syrup Sopping is a one day event starting very early in the morning in order to get freshly made biscuits by Hardee’s on site served with sausage and homemade syrup. Some 20,000 or so visitors travel from all over to enjoy the homemade arts and crafts and fresh sugar cane syrup being made at the Syrup Sopping Mill in downtown Loachapoka. Canned quarts and gallons of sugar cane and sorghum syrup are sold on site as well as sugar cane stalks, along with some 150 vendors selling their handcrafted goods and lots of great down home food and fun.
